Bike, Ride and Stride 2006

Go to Danube boat and cycle trip RAN OUT OF STEAM? You could have participated in the sponsored BIKE, RIDE or STRIDE on Saturday 9th September, raising money for your favourite church or chapel. Proceeds are divided equally between the church and the Devon Historic Churches Trust. The object was to visit as many places of worship as you coul - being sponsored by the mile or the number of churches visited. The County Organiser is Judith Kauntze, Harracott House, nr Barnstaple, Devon EX31 3JT 01271 858565 My contribution was to cycle 63 miles and visit 26 churches. While the riding time was just over 6 1/2 hours, the total time elapsed was 10 1/2 hours, which included chats to the kind occupants of many of the churches and also a lunch stop. The South Hams area of Devon is very hilly, so an average of 9.96 mph was not too bad! If you would like to see the churches I visited click HERE. The route (which was slightly different from the adjoining map) took me to the following 26 churches viz: NF Holy Cross, Noss Mayo, Holbeton, Modbury x 2, Aveton Gifford, Churchstow, Kingsbridge x2, Woodleigh, Moreleigh, Halwell, Totnes (x4), Dartington, Rattery, South Brent (x 2), Avonwick, Ugborough, Ermington and Yealmpton
